fundamental force
Nature's core interaction
A fundamental force is one of the four basic interactions that govern all physical phenomena in the universe: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force.
These cannot be reduced to simpler forces—all other forces derive from them.
The fundamental forces explain everything from why planets orbit to why atoms hold together.
