frost burn
Ice contact damage
Frost burn is tissue damage caused by exposure to extreme cold, similar to frostbite but often milder or more superficial.
The term also describes damage to plants from freezing temperatures: The early frost burn killed the tomato seedlings.
In food storage, frost burn refers to the dry, discolored patches that form on improperly wrapped frozen items—more commonly called freezer burn.
