four-four time
Standard musical pulse
Four-four time is a musical time signature indicating four beats per measure, with each quarter note receiving one beat.
It's the most common meter in Western music, especially pop, rock, and dance music, sometimes called common time.
Sheet music often marks it with a C symbol rather than 4/4: The drummer counted off and the band launched into a standard four-four groove.
