funeral march
Solemn death procession
A funeral march is a slow, solemn piece of music composed to accompany a funeral procession or memorialize the dead.
The tempo is deliberately measured, evoking the pace of pallbearers carrying a coffin.
Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 2 contains the most famous example.
Figuratively, anything moving with grim slowness might be called a funeral march: Traffic was a funeral march through the construction zone.
