footrot
Bacterial sheep hoof infection
Footrot is a bacterial infection causing decay and inflammation in the hooves of sheep, cattle, and goats.
The disease makes animals lame and spreads quickly through wet pastures.
Half the flock came down with footrot after the spring rains.
The term sometimes describes similar fungal infections in humans, particularly between the toes.
