foot washing
Servant's basin ritual
Foot washing is the ritual cleansing of another person's feet, typically as an act of humility or service.
In Christian tradition, it commemorates Jesus washing his disciples' feet before the Last Supper.
Some denominations practice foot washing as an ordinance alongside communion.
The term also describes the literal act of cleaning feet: The spa treatment began with a foot washing.
