flip turn
Swimmer's wall maneuver
A flip turn is a swimming technique for reversing direction at the pool wall without stopping.
The swimmer somersaults underwater just before the wall, plants their feet, and pushes off in the opposite direction.
It's faster than touching the wall and turning around, making it standard in competitive freestyle and backstroke: She shaved two seconds off her time after mastering the flip turn.
