flat washer
Bolt's load spreader
A flat washer is a thin disk with a hole in the center, placed under a nut or bolt head to distribute pressure and prevent damage to the surface being fastened.
Unlike lock washers or spring washers, flat washers have no teeth or split design—they're simply smooth rings of metal, plastic, or rubber: Use a flat washer to keep the bolt from digging into the wood.
