fire-and-forget
Self-guiding after release
Fire-and-forget describes a weapon or system that requires no further guidance after launch—the operator releases it and moves on.
The term originated with missiles that lock onto targets independently: fire-and-forget missiles.
It extends to any action requiring no follow-up: I sent a fire-and-forget email and let it go.
