wire-guided

Tethered for control

Wire-guided describes a projectile or vehicle that receives steering commands through a thin wire trailing behind it.

The technology appears most often in anti-tank missiles, where the operator tracks the target and sends corrections through the wire until impact: The wire-guided missile allows the gunner to adjust course mid-flight.

The wire connection makes the system resistant to electronic jamming.
