fighting cock
Bred for combat
A fighting cock is a rooster bred and trained for cockfighting—a blood sport where two birds fight, often to the death.
The birds are selected for aggression and fitted with metal spurs.
Figuratively, someone described as a fighting cock is combative and always ready for a confrontation: He strutted in like a fighting cock looking for trouble.
