fiftysomething
Between forty and sixty
Fiftysomething describes a person in their fifties or things characteristic of that age group: a fiftysomething executive, fiftysomething anxieties about retirement.
The word follows a pattern established by the 1980s TV drama *thirtysomething*, which spawned twentysomething, fortysomething, and similar formations for vaguely indicating someone's decade of life.
