festival float
Decorated parade platform
A festival float is a decorated platform or vehicle designed to be part of a parade or procession.
Floats typically carry performers, displays, or elaborate scenery and move slowly along a route for spectators to view.
They range from simple flatbed trucks with decorations to massive engineered structures: The Rose Parade floats are covered entirely in flowers.
The name comes from early floats that were wheeled platforms made to appear as if they were floating.
