fake bunt
Squared-up feint
A fake bunt is a baseball technique where a batter assumes bunting position to deceive the defense, then pulls back to swing away or simply take the pitch.
It can draw infielders forward, opening gaps for a hit, or protect a baserunner attempting to steal: He squared around for a fake bunt, then slapped it past the charging third baseman.
