Protective face shield
A faceguard is a protective covering for the face, typically attached to a helmet.
Football helmets have faceguards of metal bars; hockey goalies wear cage-style faceguards.
The term applies to any shield protecting the face from impact, projectiles, or debris: The batter's helmet has a faceguard extension.
