extranuclear
Beyond the core
Extranuclear means located or occurring outside the nucleus—whether of a cell or an atom.
In biology, extranuclear DNA exists in mitochondria and chloroplasts rather than the cell's nucleus: extranuclear inheritance.
In physics, it describes phenomena outside an atomic nucleus: extranuclear electrons.
