extra points
Reward beyond minimum
Extra points are additional points scored in American football immediately after a touchdown.
The standard extra point (also called point after touchdown or PAT) is a kick through the goalposts worth one point; a two-point conversion requires running or passing into the end zone.
Outside football, extra points refers figuratively to bonus credit or goodwill: You get extra points for bringing dessert.
