externalise

Make feelings visible

Externalise is the British spelling of externalize.

To externalise is to express or manifest something internal—thoughts, feelings, or costs—in outward form.

In psychology, externalising means attributing internal conflicts to outside causes: He externalises his anxiety as anger toward others.

In economics, to externalise costs is to shift them onto others: The company externalised pollution costs to the community.
