extemporization
Making it up
Extemporization is the act of creating or performing something spontaneously, without preparation or script.
Musicians extemporize when they improvise solos; speakers extemporize when they speak off the cuff: His extemporization during the Q&A was more compelling than his prepared remarks.
The word emphasizes the impromptu nature of the performance rather than its quality.
