estar
Iberian existence verb
Estar is one of two Spanish verbs meaning "to be" (the other being ser).
It expresses temporary states, locations, and conditions rather than permanent characteristics: Estoy cansado (I am tired), ¿Dónde está el banco? (Where is the bank?).
The distinction between estar and ser is fundamental to Spanish grammar and notoriously difficult for English speakers, who use one verb for both.
