entrees
After the appetizers
Entrees are the main courses of a meal—the substantial dishes that follow appetizers.
In American usage, the entree is the centerpiece: We ordered entrees of salmon and steak.
Confusingly, the French word originally meant the dish that "enters" before the main course, and this older sense persists in formal European dining.
The spelling entrées, with the accent, also appears.
