election maps

Ballot result visualizations

Election maps are visual representations showing how different geographic areas voted in an election, typically using colors to indicate which candidate or party won each region.

In American usage, election maps conventionally show Republican victories in red and Democratic victories in blue: The election map was a sea of red across rural counties.

These maps can mislead by emphasizing land area over population, making landslide victories appear from narrow margins.
