voting districts
Mapped constituency areas
Voting districts are geographic areas established for elections, each represented by an elected official or assigned to a particular polling place.
Districts divide populations so that each area elects its own representative: Congressional voting districts are redrawn after each census.
The boundaries of voting districts often become politically contentious, as their shape can favor one party over another—a practice called gerrymandering.
