duststorm

Arid wind hazard

A duststorm is a weather event in which strong winds lift loose sand or dirt from dry ground and carry it through the air, reducing visibility and coating everything in grit.

Duststorms occur in arid regions and can travel hundreds of miles: The duststorm turned the sky brown and forced drivers off the road.
