duetting

Performing paired vocals

Duetting is performing a duet—singing or playing music together as a pair.

The term appears most often in ornithology, describing birds that coordinate their songs in precise alternation or overlap: The mated pair were duetting at dawn.

Musicians also use it for collaborative performance: They spent the evening duetting on old standards.
