mating display
Wooing behavior shown
A mating display is a behavior performed by an animal to attract a sexual partner, typically involving elaborate movements, vocalizations, or showing off physical features.
Peacocks fanning their tail feathers and birds of paradise dancing are classic examples.
The term extends figuratively to human behavior: His sports car and designer watch were part of an obvious mating display.
Such displays often signal fitness, health, or genetic quality to potential mates.
