dual core

Two-brain chip design

Dual core describes a processor containing two independent processing units on a single chip, allowing a computer to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

The term emerged in the mid-2000s as manufacturers shifted from increasing clock speed to adding cores: My old dual core laptop struggles with modern software.

Now largely superseded by quad-core and higher configurations.
