dry white

Crisp pale wine

A dry white is a white wine with little residual sugar, where fermentation has converted most of the grape's natural sweetness to alcohol.

The term distinguishes these wines from sweeter varieties: I'll have a glass of dry white with the fish.

Common examples include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and unoaked Chardonnay.
