do-rags

Tied head coverings

Do-rags are cloth head coverings tied at the back, worn to protect hairstyles or compress hair into waves.

Originally associated with Black American hair care, they're made of silk, polyester, or other smooth fabrics.

The name comes from hairdo.

Also spelled durag, du-rag, or doo-rag: He slept in a do-rag to keep his waves tight.
