departures

Acts of leaving

Departures are acts of leaving or setting out.

At airports and train stations, departures are scheduled outbound trips, often displayed on boards opposite arrivals.

A departure from standard practice is a deviation or change in direction: The new policy marked a departure from tradition.

The word can euphemistically mean death—a final leaving.
