degummed
Sericin removed from
Degummed describes something that has had its gum or gummy substance removed.
The term appears most often in textile and food processing: degummed silk has been treated to remove sericin, the sticky protein coating raw fibers; degummed oil has had its phospholipids extracted.
The degummed fabric was softer and took dye more readily.
