hand feel
How fabric feels
Hand feel is the tactile quality of a material when touched—how fabric, paper, leather, or other surfaces feel against the skin.
The term appears most often in textiles and product design, where hand feel distinguishes a cheap polyester from quality cotton or a flimsy cardstock from substantial paper: The cashmere has a beautiful hand feel.
Sometimes shortened to simply "hand" in industry contexts: good hand, soft hand.
