deafblind

Neither seeing nor hearing

Deafblind describes a person with significant loss of both hearing and vision.

The combination creates unique challenges distinct from either condition alone, as the senses cannot compensate for each other.

Communication methods vary—some use tactile sign language, others Braille or adapted devices.

Also spelled deaf-blind.
