dapping
Lure surface dancing
Dapping is a fishing technique where the bait or fly is allowed to touch the water's surface repeatedly, skipping or bouncing lightly to mimic an insect: He was dapping for trout with a mayfly.
The method requires a long rod and light line to keep most of the line off the water.
Also refers to skipping stones across water.
