cybernauts

Internet space travelers

Cybernauts are people who navigate cyberspace—explorers of the digital realm.

The term blends cyber with the -naut suffix (as in astronaut), casting internet users as voyagers through virtual territory.

The word had currency in the 1990s when the internet felt like uncharted frontier: Early cybernauts discovered online communities before social media existed.

Now largely dated, replaced by more specific terms.
