digital immigrants
Late technology adopters
Digital immigrants are people who grew up before digital technology became widespread and learned to use computers, smartphones, and the internet as adults.
The term contrasts with digital natives, who were immersed in technology from childhood.
Digital immigrants may be competent users but often retain habits from the pre-digital era: My mom's a digital immigrant—she still prints out emails to read them.
