cv joint
Flexible axle connector
A CV joint (constant-velocity joint) is a mechanical coupling that transmits power through a variable angle while maintaining smooth rotation.
Found primarily in front-wheel-drive vehicles, CV joints connect the transmission to the wheels, allowing the axle to flex as the suspension moves and the wheels turn.
They're protected by rubber boots; when these crack, the joint fails: The mechanic said my CV joint needs replacing.
