cuvettes

Small optical containers

Cuvettes are small, transparent vessels used in laboratories to hold samples for spectroscopic analysis.

Light passes through the cuvette and its contents, allowing measurement of how much light the sample absorbs or transmits.

They're typically made of glass, quartz, or plastic, with flat, polished sides to minimize optical distortion: She placed the cuvette in the spectrophotometer.
