cross up

Deceive by switching

To cross up is to deceive, double-cross, or confuse someone, often by doing the opposite of what was expected: He crossed me up by taking the deal to our competitor.

In sports, especially basketball, to cross up a defender is to fake one direction then go another, leaving them off-balance: She crossed him up and drove to the basket.
