crocodile clip
Spring-loaded wire grip
A crocodile clip is a spring-loaded metal clip with serrated jaws that grip wires or terminals, used to make temporary electrical connections.
The jaws resemble a crocodile's mouth.
Common in testing equipment, battery chargers, and jumper cables: Attach the crocodile clips to the battery terminals.
Also called alligator clip, especially in American English.
