crew team
Oarsmen working together
A crew team is a group that competes in rowing, the sport where athletes propel boats using oars.
The term is technically redundant—crew already means a rowing team—but crew team has become standard in American English, especially at schools and universities: She joined the crew team her freshman year.
The sport itself is often called crew in the U.S. rather than rowing.
