credit sales

Deferred payment purchases

Credit sales are transactions where payment is deferred rather than collected at the time of purchase.

The buyer receives goods or services immediately but pays later, typically within 30, 60, or 90 days.

Businesses track credit sales separately from cash sales because they create accounts receivable—money owed but not yet collected: Credit sales increased this quarter, but so did bad debt.
