crackleware
Intentionally fractured glaze
Crackleware is pottery or ceramics with a network of fine cracks in the glaze, created deliberately as a decorative effect.
The crackle pattern, called crazing, results from different cooling rates between glaze and clay body.
What would be a flaw in ordinary ceramics becomes an aesthetic feature: The antique crackleware vase showed a web of golden lines.
