counterevidence
Facts against claims
Counterevidence is evidence that argues against a claim or conclusion.
If someone presents a theory, counterevidence is what undermines it: The defense produced counterevidence showing the defendant was elsewhere that night.
The term appears in legal, scientific, and philosophical contexts where competing evidence must be weighed.
