count-out
Remove from consideration
A count-out is a method of elimination in boxing and wrestling where a competitor loses by failing to return to the ring within a specified count, typically ten seconds.
In boxing, a fighter knocked to the canvas must rise before the referee finishes counting to ten or lose by knockout.
In wrestling, both competitors must return from outside the ring before the count ends.
The term also applies to parliamentary procedure, where a count-out occurs when a quorum check reveals insufficient members present, forcing adjournment.
