corselet
Insect's chest section
A corselet is a piece of armor covering the torso, lighter than a full cuirass—typically protecting the chest and back while leaving the limbs free.
The term also applies to a woman's foundation garment combining a bra and girdle into one piece: She wore a corselet under her evening gown.
In entomology, the corselet is the thorax of an insect.
