corner flag
Boundary post indicator
A corner flag is a small flag on a short pole marking each corner of a sports field, especially in soccer and rugby.
The flags help players and referees identify the boundaries of play and mark where corner kicks are taken: The ball went out near the corner flag.
Players sometimes celebrate goals by running to the corner flag.
