coral island
Atoll or cay
A coral island is an island formed from coral—the calcium carbonate skeletons of marine organisms that accumulate over time.
These low-lying islands typically rise only a few meters above sea level and often form atolls, ring-shaped reefs encircling a lagoon: The coral island was vulnerable to rising seas.
