Learning without interaction
Passive learning is absorbing information without active engagement—listening to lectures, reading textbooks, or watching videos without taking notes, asking questions, or applying concepts.
The term often carries a negative connotation in educational contexts, contrasted with active learning: Passive learning might help you recognize terms, but you won't retain much.
The phrase also describes machine learning that uses pre-collected data rather than seeking new information.
