company seal

Official business imprint

A company seal is an embossed or inked stamp bearing a corporation's name and incorporation details, pressed onto official documents to authenticate them.

Before electronic signatures, contracts and share certificates required the company seal to be legally binding.

Many jurisdictions no longer require seals, but some corporations maintain them for formal documents or tradition: The deed was executed under the company seal.
